Kelly Moon is the Chief Operations Officer for the Colorado Rampage. In this role, her contributions include maintaining and implementing organization policy to ensure critical awareness and oversight of player safety and development as well as procedures to communicate effectively with all participants. Kelly facilitates Tier 1 registering, rostering, scheduling, billeting and travel details. She is the academic liaison for the organization to ensure all players balance the demands of a student athlete. Her additional duties include fundraising, rink advertising sales, and coordinating community outreach opportunities.
Kelly hails from Oklahoma City, OK where she Captained a State Champion Cross Country and Track team. She swam inter-collegiately for four years and graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology and Health from University of Wyoming. Kelly taught Art and ESL for 21 years at high school and elementary levels in Ohio, Wyoming, Colorado, and Texas while also coaching track and cross country for six years. She was hand selected to serve on numerous school and military patient advocacy boards while her family was stationed in San Antonio.
Committed to lifetime fitness and competition, Kelly won both the Colorado Marathon (2001) and the American Discovery Trail Marathon (2005) during her illustrious 25 marathon career. She completed four sub 3-hour marathons and holds a 2:52:37 at the Chicago Marathon as a personal best. She’s also won numerous Sprint Triathlons as well as short and middle distance running events. She is working to capture the Abbot World Marathon Major medal and beginning to dabble in ultra distance trail events. She can often be spotted running to/from the rink both in Colorado and when traveling with the team!!
Kelly’s husband, Tim Owens, is a Ret. Colonel in the United States Air Force. They have three children. Their oldest son, Cooper, plays for the Wilkes University Colonels in Wilkes-Barre, PA and studies Mechanical Engineering. Their daughter, Ella, is a first year student at Northern Michigan University where she studies Neuroscience and continues to skate and compete. Their youngest son, Carson, is a Junior at Springs Studio for Academic Excellence and competes in Robotics and Fencing. He will graduate in 2027 with his Associates from Pikes Peak State College in Computer Science and will go to university to study Computer Engineering and Cyber Security.
