David Herman

David Herman (“Herms”) comes to the Rampage after serving a role with the Los Angeles Kings NHL team as an Emergency Backup Goalie and practice goalie during the 2025-2026 campaign. 

In addition to being the Rampage’s Director of Goaltending, Coach Herman also serves as the General Manager and Head Coach of the U.S. national team which competes in the Men’s Masters division of the IIHF sanctioned Maccabiah Games tournament. 

Previously, during Coach Herman’s MBA studies at the University of Denver, he served as as an Assistant Video Coach [volunteer] and statistician on the Pioneer’s NCAA staff [2015-2017]. More recently, Herms held roles as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations with ACHA programs including CU-Boulder & California State University, Northridge. 

Beyond extensive experience in hockey, Herms holds several academic degrees, including a J.D. specializing in Sports Law from Arizona State University, an MBA specializing in Analytics from the University of Denver, and a B.S. in Marketing with a concentration in Sports Marketing from the University of Arizona — where following a three-year junior career across several North American Junior-A leagues, Herms forewent four NCAA D3 offers, choosing to attend UofA and play ACHA hockey.  While holding the crease as a three-year starting goalie for the Arizona Wildcats’ program prior to a series of concussions, Herms was one of the top goaltenders in the nation for ACHA D1 and set six program records which still stand today.
