National Development Camp Selects 9 Colorado Rampage Athletes

Colorado Rampage ● HomeNational Development Camp Selects 9 Colorado Rampage Athletes

The Colorado Rampage is thrilled to announce that a record setting nine (9) players advanced from the Rocky Mountain District camp to the 2026 USA Hockey National Player Development Camps and High-Performance Camp (the highest level after Rocky Mountain District camps).  Four of the nine players started in the Rampage learn-to-play program and developed through the entire Rampage system.
The Rocky Mountain District is allotted an average of 18 players per birth-year (2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009) for the national and High-Performance camps, totaling 50-54 spots.  The success of Rampage player development is reflected with the allocations rewarded totaling 15-18% of the entire district player pool.  For a typical 20-player roster, this is roughly a 15% success rate advancing players to highest level of national exposure.  Including current and former Rampage players, with a robust homegrown development pipeline and alumni successes, the Colorado Rampage leads Colorado in real organic development to the highest level in youth hockey.
Congratulations to the following players representing the Rampage:
  • Carter Lester (2009)
  • Anthony Njike (2009)
  • Jake Mintenko (2010)
  • Cody Paul (2011)
  • Austin Kennedy (2011)
  • Cooper Briggs (2012)
  • Cristiano Hinojosa (2012),
  • Jake Bastien (2012),
  • Hudson Laye (2012)

Advancement Success by the Numbers…

In 2025-26, the Colorado Rampage advanced 23% of all Colorado players from the Rocky Mountain District Camp across 2009-20012 birth-years.  Nine (9) players will compete this summer at USA sponsored development camps, providing national exposure at the highest levels.  This number is impressive for a single grassroots program in a state with over 12,500 registered youth participants (2024-25 USA Hockey).  What is more impressive is the consistency of player development and advancement over many years.  In the last fifteen years, 16% to 50% of Colorado players advancing from the State Camp to the Rocky Mountain District Camp played and developed with the Rampage.
Although the 2025-26 numbers reflect recent success preparing players to compete nationally, the Rampage historically have advanced players to national camps with impressive numbers.  Consider the following:
  • Four Rampage players advanced in 2012 out of 25 total Colorado players
  • Two Rampage players from 2011 out of six spots from Colorado
  • One Rampage players from 2010 out of two spots from Colorado
  • Two Rampage players from 2009 out of six spots from Colorado

At the youngest level of hockey in Monument, the Try Hockey for Free program sponsored by Monument Ice Rinks/Rebels/Rampage also celebrates the numbers as arguably the strongest in the nation.  This past season, Try Hockey for Free numbers ranked #1 in the country, matching other years in the past decade that the program reached this top-ranked milestone. On March 7, officially 216 boys and girls registered to claim the top spot nationally (USAH press release).  This accomplishment at the grassroots level reflects the same Rampage success developing and advancing players to the State camps, Rocky Mountain District camps, the 14U High Performance camp and Select 15, 16 and 17 camps.

By the numbers the conclusions are clear: the Rampage have built and operate a proven winner that grows local players on skates for the first time to elite levels of national competition and exposure.
